FAQs – PSL Points Table
What is PSL points table?
The points table list all PSL teams standings based on their wins and losses. Each of the six teams play ten matches during group stage. Top four of the six teams at the end of the tournament proceed to the play-off stage.
How many points are earned for each win?
Each team is awarded 2 points for each win. There is only 1 point in case of no-result or a tie. No points are awarded if the match is called-off or cancelled.
What happens when teams have equal points?
Interestingly, this is very common in a league like PSL to have 2 or more teams having equal number of wins, losses or tied matches. This results in teams ending up with equal points on the table. In such cases, teams can qualify for play-offs based on the net run rate.
What does the points table of PSL show?
The PSL points table highlights all the teams participating along with total matches played, matches won, lost, total points and the net run rate.
How important is the Net run rate on the table?
In the beginning of the league, less importance is given to the net run rate. This is because a team standing on the points table is based on the points earned. The importance of the net run rate arises when all teams complete their ten matches. If 2 or more teams have equal points, the decision whether they will proceed to the play-offs is solely based on the final net run rate position.
